Waiting on the Authors

One of my greatest pet-peeves when reading fiction is the lack of completion. Truly, I understand the pull of the press to keep you in suspense and generate more income for the author, the publishing company, and so on by stalling the next press release. Yet, in my mind all books in the series should be written prior to the release. Why? As your readers we are drawn to the characters like moths to light. We don't want to get started met the characters, discover their world, share their journey only to contact you later on and find out that you - the author - have yet to put pen to paper on the next book. A few years ago I challenged myself to start reading Fantasy. I say challenge because if you are not a regular fantasy reader it can be very daring. These creative, crafty authors generate strange worlds, use fantastic creatures, marvelous names, and weave allegory into their themes in a way that can make the brain just plumb worn out.
