Let's get started...Ready, Set , Read!

Let's jump right in and get started! I am going to start by recommending a series. I know I can hear it now. Three books all at once? Trust me you will be glad that I waited to recommend it until all three were written. I had to wait an entire year for the third books publication!

If you enjoyed Pilgrims Progress you will love Karon Hancock's style of Allegory. She has a powerful way of writing that pulls you in and helps you leave reality behind. A word to the wise, this is hard reading. You will have to get use to the unusual names and titles for the characters at first, but once you are in you are hooked. I am not currently reviewing a book/author or even reading Christian fiction at the moment. It is an interesting break from the normal and I am enjoying selecting the titles right now. Since I rarely read in the secular market it is often difficult for me to find authors that are enjoyable or to my tastes. In May or perhaps early of this year I was lent a copy of Twilight by Stephanie Meyers . Wait! Hold on! If you are completely rolling your eyes at this point and believe that I have joined the teen band wagon let me get just a few words in edgewise here. Thank you. As I was saying, I was lent a copy of Twilight a while back. I had no real desire to read it because, as you, I had no desire to join the throng of teens and even pre-teens obsessing over this book/saga. The copy I had received was at the top of my "to read later" pile, so I picked it up and turned to page one. Please understand that I am not a fan of Vampires or even that sort of thriller market. Another Book Give Away - Let's explore!

I have been sitting idle for a while on the whole book contest/give away idea mainly because so many people just email me "hey, I'll take a free book." The point of the contest is to learn more about books and reading right!? With that said, I don't really want to hear that you will accept a free book. I am sure that lots of people would take a free book. All of that said, let's try another book give away for Fall. Here is the requirement: I want to hear about what you read this summer. It does not have to be fiction, Christian, or even a book. Perhaps you read a great magazine article. Share you favorite read from this summer and why.
